HIMKJÆR

01/12/2023

"Himkjær" merges the music of two musicians with roots from Kongsberg, Reidun and Joscha. They have known each other since childhood through various musical collaborations and from being from the same local community.

The idea for the project originated after a sound check in Vår Frues Kirke in Trondheim with the band Laupsa Lokomotiv, where both are regular members. It started when Reidun began humming an improvised melody, and Joscha quickly joined in. This soon took on a Christmas-like feel, sparking the idea of a different kind of Christmas album.

The music is originally composed and written by both members and revolves around the theme of coming home. The word "himkjær" is a local expression from the Kongsberg area, conveying the joy of returning to familiar surroundings. The music was recorded in Hedenstad Kirke, a historic 800-year-old church in Øvre Sandsvær, just outside Kongsberg.

Reidun and Joscha invite the audience to a Christmas experience from Kongsberg.
