Jafs
The band "Jafs" was formed in the autumn of 2019, originating from the jazz program in Stavanger. They are a trio that performs original compositions influenced by the Nordic jazz scene, Korean folk music, free-improvised, and free-jazz-oriented music. Drawing inspiration from bands and artists like Atomic, Charles Mingus, and Cortex, their music carries a strong message centered around collaboration and improvisation.
In an era where collaboration has become more challenging than before, "Jafs" embraces the essence of working together and improvising. Concert opportunities are scarce, and even when they do get the chance to perform, managing expenses presents a significant hurdle. Consequently, the act of playing together has become considerably more difficult.
Despite the prevailing circumstances, the band maintains a higher level of musical activity than ever before. They possess a strong determination to invest in each other as a band and as a musical collective. Their long-term aspiration is to continue performing together, creating music together, and improvising as a unit.
