RØSK

06/05/2022

RØSK (Rogaland Øvre Samspills Kohort) is a fresh and innovative music collective originating from the jazz program at the University of Stavanger. The collective serves as a platform for emerging musicians and composers in Stavanger who wish to write for a larger ensemble. This allows for individual expression within the context of a larger community. The group operates as a collective without a distinct front figure, with compositions at the center, written by various band members. The result is an eclectic sonic landscape where the cohort navigates through a range of soundscapes and styles based on diverse inspirations, tastes, and composition techniques, while maintaining a common thread through the ensemble's distinct sound and the performers' individualistic expressions.

Vol. I

RØSK released their debut EP "RØSK vol.I" in 2022 and aims to function as an active platform for young musicians with a shared desire to play and compose music for a larger ensemble on their own terms. The different compositions are all written by members of the group, resulting in an eclectic soundscape where the ensemble explores a variety of sonic landscapes and styles inspired by different sources, tastes, and composition techniques.
