Vok Ens
The ensemble of improvising vocalists has been active since 2016 and consists of members from different musical projects, within a vast number of genres. Vok Ens started their collaboration during their jazz studies in Stavanger, under teacher and mentor Anita Kaasbøll (Trondheim Voices, Bladed). During the years in Stavanger Vok Ens found their sound, and the ensemble has been active ever since, with a high concert activity in Scandinavia.
The vocalists focus on the nuances of the human voice, and play with its many possibilities. The ensemble is passionate about exploring and pushing borders, and aims to contribute with initiative, innovation and a distinct sound to the Nordic music scene. The album «Vok I» has an acoustic and raw character that features the wide spectrum of the female voice.
The album "Vok I" is the ensemble's first release, and the accomplished musician Anita Kaasbøll has contributed with her great knowledge and experience as a producer on the album. The music is a combination of freely improvised pieces and more arranged sections, and it shifts between different rhythmic and melodic soundscapes, collective improvisations and soloist parts.
